We are located four hundred and fifty kilometres east of Melbourne, in the forests of East Gippsland.
Welcome, to Cann River P-12 College. We
are located four hundred and fifty kilometres east of Melbourne, in the forests
of East Gippsland, Cann River is a bustling Café Town on the Princess
Highway. Cann River the gateway to Point
Hicks, where Captain Cook first sighted mainland Australia.
Our schools deliver a highly focused
curriculum from P-12. We are able to deliver a wide range of VCE subjects due
to our flexible approach in planning for each group of
students. Our aim is to develop productive citizens with
positive pathways to the world of work and society and this we do more
effectively each year. For most students this will mean transition to
life beyond the local area.
Visitors note the sunny welcoming
nature of the school. The school has
very high staff morale and support from the community: in 2017 a Priority
Review found we were substantially achieved most of a goals with the reviewer
describing the school in his presentations as ‘fantastic school’.
This is in part because we are aware of the
challenges for rural and remote students and we see our role is essential in
the lives of young people. We have a
very strong professional learning culture and we do this by targeting our
needs, and working consistently towards them.
We have a whole-school approach to the social and academic learning of
each student – with every teacher knowing every student and progress carefully
supported. We are highly responsive to
different needs, abilities and interests of individual students.
We acknowledge the Monaro people as the
traditional owners of the land.
